Reservations are encouraged to allow the kitchen to prepare thoughtfully around the season’s ingredients and daily harvest. For Chef’s Table experiences and larger groups, advance booking is recommended.
MEET CHEF SOTHEA
Born in Kampong Cham, Chef Sothea Seng grew up surrounded by farmland, seasonal ingredients, and the rhythms of rural Cambodian life. Long before entering professional kitchens, he learned to cook for his family while his father worked in the fields and his mother sold goods from the front of their traditional wooden home. These early experiences continue to shape the way he cooks today — thoughtful, deeply personal, and closely connected to the land.
His culinary journey later took him from luxury hotel kitchens in Cambodia to Dubai and the Caribbean, where he refined his technical skills across a range of international cuisines. Yet despite years abroad, Sothea always felt drawn back to the flavors, ingredients, and culinary memories of home.
Returning to Cambodia in 2008, he worked as an executive chef, food and beverage manager, and consultant for several luxury hospitality projects before co-founding restaurants, boutique accommodation, and cooking experiences alongside his wife, Sonita Chao.
Lum Orng represents Chef Sothea’s most personal expression to date — a contemporary farm-to-table restaurant exploring Cambodian cuisine through seasonality, local ingredients, and the evolving identity of New Mekong Cuisine. More than simply a restaurant, Lum Orng was created as a place for culinary discovery, meaningful conversation, and creative collaboration between guests, cooks, farmers, and fellow chefs.
CHEF’S TABLE
Chef Sothea Seng’s intimate Chef’s Table offers a more personal and immersive dining experience centered around an evolving seasonal tasting menu prepared and presented directly by the chef himself.
Inspired by the spirit of Japanese omakase dining, each evening unfolds differently. Alongside the Chef’s Tasting Menu, guests may also be invited to sample experimental dishes, seasonal discoveries, and refined interpretations of Lum Orng classics currently being developed in the kitchen.
Throughout the experience, Chef Sothea shares the stories, inspirations, techniques, and regional influences behind each course — from childhood memories and local ingredients to his ongoing exploration of contemporary Cambodian cuisine. Guests are encouraged to interact, ask questions, and become part of the creative process.
Located on a private floor above the main Lum Orng dining room, the Chef’s Table overlooks lush tropical gardens and offers a calm, intimate atmosphere for up to eight guests per sitting. Evenings may begin with cocktails or sparkling wine on the breezy balcony before settling into a multi-course culinary journey shaped by the season’s harvest and the chef’s latest inspirations.
